भ्राजिष्णु भोजनं भोक्ता सहिष्णु: जगदादिजः ।
अनघो विजयो जेता विश्वयोनिः पुनर्वसुः ।।
141. Bhrajishnur
Bhrajit means the one who shines with an inner glow.
We might have observed that some people have a glow or radiance around them. We could say they have a positive aura them.
The Katopanishad says,
na tatra sūryo bhāti na candratārakaṁ nemā vidyuto bhānti kuto'yamagniḥ |
tameva bhāntamanubhāti sarvaṁ tasya bhāsā sarvamidaṁ vibhāti ||
The lustre of the Sun, the Moon, the stars, the fire (agni) , all these fall short in radiance in front of Him. They merely are the shadow of his brightness and reflect the radiance of the Lord.
142. Bhojanam
Bhojanam means aahara or food.
It is what we love to eat or the object of our enjoyment. Here, it means the Maya or Prakruthi that he enjoys and the happiness that comes from experiencing it.
143. Bhokta
The one who is enjoying the bhojana is called Bhokta. Here. It means the one who is enjoying his creation or Prakruthi.
Bhunkte iti bhokta
Both are Vishnu, the one who enjoys and the one that is being enjoyed are both Him.
He is everything.
144. Sahishnuhu
The word can be split into the roots as - Saha + ishnu
Saha means Sahana or to bear or tolerate
Ishnu means it is a part of his nature
His nature is such that he can bear everything. It is his character.
Whatever happens between sristi and laya, between creation and destruction, he calmly bears everything. It teaches us to be like Him.
145. Jagdadija
The name can be split into its root words as –
Jagat (Universe) + adi (first) + jatah (born)
The one who was there from the beginning
The Rigveda has 3 suktas-
1. Nasadiyasukta or the hymn of
creation
2. Hiranyagarbha sukta or the source of the creation of universe
3.Purushasukta or the creation of the universe from the Purusha.
It is said that at first there was neither existence, nor non-existence, At first there was only darkness. Everything was in a state of sleep. There was nothing, either moving or static. Then Svayambhu, self-manifested Being arose, which is a form beyond senses. He is hence ‘Jagat adi jatah’, the one who is present since the beginning of the creation.
The Hiranyagarbha sukta describes the formation of the Vasudeva vyuha and then the other 3 vyuhas- Pradyumna , Anirudh, and Sankarshana – the Creation potential, sustenance potential, destruction potential.
From them was created the Pancha bhootas which led to the formation of the Brahmanda Srushti and then the Pindanda srusthi.
146. Anagha
Agha means sin
Anagha means someone who is free of sins. He is
pure and akalmashah
‘Agham na vidyate iti anaghah’
147. Vijayah
Vijay means victory
Hence He is victory incarnate
Vi + jaya meaning victory in every conceivable form.
Not only is He victorious but He also ignites the Jnana, vairagya, Aishwarya shakti or potential in us and leads us to victory too.
148. Jeta
Jeta means the one who conquers. He is the conqueror.
Sarvam jagat jayati iti jeta
He not only conquers the universe but he conquers us too if we surrender unto Him.
149. Vishwayonih
Vishwasyah karana yonih iti vishwayoni
He has the shakti / potential to trigger the creation. He is the source of the Universe.
150. Punarvasuh
Punah means again and again
Vasu, as we have seen earlier, means wealth
Despite the cyclic creation and destruction, He
resides in us as the Jiva.
